GENERAL OVERVIEW:
The Communications/Media Relations Internship provides an opportunity to learn and assist with the day-to-day operations of the Colorado Avalanche Communications department, as well as work with the hockey operations staff. This internship position will specifically focus on the topic of media relations, team website and team operations.

MINIMUM RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assists in the daily production and distribution of the press clippings and gathering all Colorado Avalanche/NHL stories from local, national and international news services.
  • Assists in the distribution of the Colorado Avalanche media/photo credentials for all home games.
  • Assists in the set-up of the Pepsi Center press box for all home games.
  • Assists in day-to-day content of the Avalanche’s official website. Duties include writing, gathering audio and shooting video.
  • Assists in writing and editing for the Avalanche’s official game program.
  • Helps with coordination of press conferences and team events.
  • Provides general support for the hockey operations staff, including executives, coaches and scouts.
  • Other duties as assigned.

The Creative Services internship provides an opportunity to learn and assist with the day-to-day operations of the Altitude Creative Services department.  This internship will focus on motion graphic design and on-air promotion for Altitude Sports, and help coordinate and produce elements for live game and studio production, network promos, and digital media.  *Paid, able to receive school credit. 


MINIMUM RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assist with production of elements for network graphics package
  • Assist with production of network promos, including writing, editing and graphics
  • Assist with production of sponsored elements for ad sales
  • Provide general support for operations of Creative Services department

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Shadow event directors and other arena operations departments during events.

EVENTS & MARKETING INTERN

  • Work with departments located in the Denver Office including Events, Ad Sales, Marketing and Affiliate Sales on a variety of projects.
  • Working with Sportsman Channel Outdoor Fest (SCOF) team to generate and grow exhibitor relationships for an annual trade show being held in Houston, Tx each summer. 
  • Maintain and update external vendor/exhibitor contact information.
  • Researching and strategizing how to target prospective exhibitor candidates.
  • Reaching out to potential exhibitor candidates to introduce them to the SCOF Trade Show. 
  • Submitting interested candidates to the trade show sales team.
  • Willing to work between 20 – 29 hours per week for three months.

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

GUEST RELATIONS INTERN

The Guest Relations Internship provides an opportunity to learn about the planning, execution and implementation of guest services at Pepsi Center and Dick’s Sporting Goods Park. Interns will participate in the day-to-day operations of the Guest Relations department, assist with various departmental game and event night responsibilities and initiatives and learn how to effectively manage and train Guest Relations staff. The ideal intern should have strong communication skills, possess a desire to learn about conflict resolution and event management and be available some nights and weekends. 

MINIMUM RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assist with Guest Relations training for Pepsi Center and Dick’s Sporting Goods Park
  • Plan and Coordinate Guest Relations Employee Appreciation events
  • Shadow Manager on Duty during events including Guest Relations and other Arena Operations departments
  • Assist with office duties to include checking voicemails, entering feedback forms, compiling and mailing guest fan packs and responding to guest emails
  • Conduct research and create presentations for proposed program initiatives
  • Assist Memory Maker Department with parties

  • Research, develop, and recommend procedures to integrate appropriate technologies into recruitment, development, and engagement processes.
  • Actively participate in company and department projects.
  • Develop KSE Internship Program activities and initiatives including diversity and inclusion.

The KNOC Operations internship provides an opportunity to learn and assist with the day-to-day operations of the KSE Operations department.  This internship will focus on QC and media prep, traffic, ingest and digital asset management for Altitude Sports and the Outdoor Sports Group of channels. * Paid, able to receive school credit.


MINIMUM RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assist with the coordination of QC, Closed Captioning and media prep
  • Gain knowledge of traffic systems and components of playout systems in a digital facility
  • Assist with the ingest and flow of content throughout the facility
  • Provide support in a fully digital facility via asset management hardware and software
  • Assist with various media asset inventory projects

OVERVIEW:
The Partnership Marketing and Media Sales department is responsible for bringing in new sponsors and retaining current clients of the Kroenke Sports & Entertainment properties. This includes Pepsi Center, Dick’s Sporting Goods Park, the Denver Nuggets, Colorado Avalanche, Colorado Mammoth, and the Colorado Rapids. The goal of this program is to teach students how to activate and maintain successful partnerships with corporate sponsors. This will be done through assisting in research, in-market and in-game promotions, special events, game day operations and outstanding client relationships. 

INTERN OPPORTUNITIES (changes seasonally)
  • Sit in and participate in meetings with various clients
  • Meet or shadow with other departments of KSE (Game Operations, Marketing, Ticket Sales, Event Management, Community Relations, Box Office, IT or Human Resources)
  • Work and attend Rapids matches, Denver Nuggets, Colorado Avalanche, and Colorado Mammoth games
